Chuang Chih Yuan is the Men Singles Champion in Spain (VIDEO)

2012 Spanish Open Men Singles ended its competition with the third seed from Chinese Taipei Chuang Chih Yuan as the winner. Against the South Korean and fifth seeded Lee Jung Woo, Chuang quickly had the control he needed and nailed the first two sets. Meanwhile, Lee Jung Woo managed to block a winning streak but it wasn't enough to destroy his opponent's confidence. At the end of six sets, Chuang Chih Yuan clinched the Men Singles championship titles.

The last men standing in the Men Singles competition were the third seed Chuang Chih Yuan of Chinese Taipei and the fifth seed Lee Jung Woo of South Korea. In the previous round, both players overcame the top seed Jun Mizutani and the veteran Vladimir Samsonov respectively.
The player from Chinese Taipei was in good control over the table in the first set with 10-6. Lee Jung Woo tried to catch up and saved three more points to 9-10. Despite resistance, Chuang Chih Yuan found his opportunity and got the first advantage with 11-9. In the second set, Lee Jung Woo established his lead in 5-3 but he was still having a hard time in maintaining his advantage.
Eventually, Chuang Chih Yuan overtook to 7-5. This time, Lee Jung Woo gave his opponent a dose of his own medicine and overtook to 8-7. After both players tied in 8-8, Lee Jung Woo got his set point advantage in 10-8. However, he wasn't able to convert it to a solid point the first time. Chuang leveled in 10-10 then went straight to his second point in 12-10.
The third set was an intense game with both players staying close in the scores. However after the tie in 7-7, Lee Jung Woo achieved set point in 10-7. Unlike the previous set, the South Korean player was able to seal the set to his favor with 11-7 in first attempt. After defeat in the previous set, Chuang Chih Yuan nailed a 5-1 advantage. Eventually, he was able to maintain his advantage to 10-7 then sealed a 3-1 lead with 11-8.
Now that Chuang Chih Yuan was one set away to victory, Lee Jung Woo took every opportunity and was in a 6-4 lead. Indeed, Lee Jung Woo maintained his advantage to 11-7. In the sixth set, both players were heating up in 9-9. After the tie, Chuang Chih Yuan reached match point in 10-9. This led South Korea to call for a timeout. After the game resumed, Chuang Chih Yuan sealed the match with 11-9.
Chuang Chih Yuan won the 2012 Spanish Open Men Singles in Almeria.
